    Buzzone bluetooth meeting :)

    Guys,

Just came across this free application called buzzone. This little tool uses bluetooth to discover other people using it and then you can meet. Maybe it would be fun if some people of here would install it on there carputer and then if you drive in the area of another carputer user, you will automatically find eachother..

Works on Windows computers and on PDA's .. let the meeting begin

The only problem is you would have to be parked next to them.

    Good find.

That approx 10 meters is a porblem and i've tested my phone and bluetooth handsfree and when phone was in the car and handsfree in my head and i was outside the car, my max distance was 3-5 meters... I think car decreases the distance..

Yeah i heard about this! People call it "toothing". Similar to the way people would go to parks looking for a sexual encounter. Now they just use their blue tooth!

Well in theory a class 1 bluetooth dongle gives you a 100m range. But we all know that's not true

Get acquainted with a hot girl / guy in a night club
    - from http://www.buzzone.net/eng/

Funny, somehow i doubt the hot chick would be the one looking for people to meet over the phone in the club But hey! You never know right?

If your friend is too far from you to speak to him/her personally, use your BuZZone in phone mode for free. The quality of BuZZone-enabled phone communication is the same as if you were speaking on the usual cell phone.
Neat! So in theory.. if we had two carputters on the highway, with class1 dongles it would be feasible to have a constant connection between the two with voice exchange.

I didn't say that the marketing was all that ;-) But i still think it would be a very cool feature if you indeed have a Class 1 dongle .. then again, You could simply use Wifi ad-hoc for a constant Voice connection with 54Mpbs if you have a 802.11g card...
