it looks like a boat inside
Ach everyone knows the H2 isn't a true hummer! Its a glorified SUV
Now the H1, that is something worth being envious of!
Man, I hate you too!!!!
I agree.. i hate you too.

yeah.... i hate u too! Dude witha cab that big you GOTTA go dual monitor! that'd own.
This reminds me of a webpage I saw awhile ago installer.com
the seperate gps unit seems a bit redundant
how come you didnt go the computer route for gps?
I also hate you.
You should put some dual 21" LCDs in there since you got the room! DAYUM!!!!
The streetpilot is still in use because i'm not happy with any of the software GPS solutions at the moment. Destinator doesn't have my hown town listed, Mappoint is just not designed for this kind of thing. I have CoPilot 7 Live on a UPS truck as we speak, so I am hoping that will be able to replace the streetpilot. Since I depend on it sometimes, I'm not ready just yet to abandon the old faithful.
There's more redundancy, the Icom 2720 (VHF/UHF) is also covered by the Icom 706 which can also do VHF/UHF. There are two batteries, two oil filters, two fuel tanks...
I am going to have the screen mounted where the head unit and HVAC controls are currently located. The shop is experimenting with using a surburban's HVAC mount to put those controls out of the way up in the overhead console, since I never use them. I live on the coast south of San Francisco where the temp fluctuates very little. This will liberate a very nice, perfectly sized space. The current 1/8" steel frame will fit perfectly over the lilliput screen and theres plenty of room behind for the cables. The current CD changer will come out and the computer will fit it there along with the PSU's etc.
I installed the rear camera last weekend in the military rear lights. I dont have much need for the night vision bulb, so I was able to fit the camera into that space. Then ran the cables though the usual route to the front. I am not using the computer for this, since it was a pain to wait for bootup before using the camera. I have it wired to the monitor on one of its non VGA modes. The other is for a future front facing camera with 0 Lux capability.
BTW if anyone was following my earlier post about a whine (the engine, not me). I fixed it with a cheap-o thing from PepBoys. Its a cylindrical device, about the size of bottle of aspirin, that connects in series with the cpmputers PSU. It was $10 and labeled as 'a device for elimintaing engine whine where the sound goes up and down with the RPM of the engine'. Sounded perfect and it worked out great.
The computer is actually back in my home office awaiting the CoPilot 7 software to play with. I also have some new Britney Spears wallpapers to upload
21" LCD? Not sure... I have two of those in the home office. Samsung 213T which are absolutely stunning monitors, but they wouldnt fit into the Hummer without obscuring the view out of one or more windows, and thats not advisable in a Hummer. I try to drive with a lot of caution, highly aware of the dangers of 8500 lbs of mass. The breaks do an incredible job, but physics is what it is... MV1=MV2, so I try to ensure V1 is as sensible as possible.
Why does everyone hate me? I only go the office once a week - so the 12 mpg isnt going to destroy the environment. Besides the 130 Million cows standing around farting all day apparently do more damage to the atmosphere than all the cars on the planet. Of course I heard that from another Hummer owner, so its probably not true
Hummers are great for this kind of project work. They are easy to work on and everything comes off with nothing more than a 1/2" wrench. Adding computers is very accessible. I know a friend who has FLIR, but its awfull, very expensive and almost unusable. I was thinking that once I have my computer in for music and Nav, I am going to add another one to play around with this kind of thing. I used to write image processing software for a company that makes MRI units, so I am going to give that a try.
There's quite a lot of us in silicon valley. Even Steve Wozniac has a very nice blue Hummer (not to mention a few other vehicles), he has way too many gadgets in his, including two satelite TV tracking antenna on the roof (so the passengers can watch different tv stations), he has dvd per-seat... you name it. Makes mine look like positively spartan. Still, he has the Alpine system for mp3 and Nav and it sucks!
