You can check to see what type of codec the file uses by right clicking on the files then going to properties, then to summary. I think codec is listed under there someplace, but its not always accurate or filled in. The other way is to get a program like g-spot that will tell you about the codec that the file uses to play videos. If any of your files are not in mpeg format, there are many conversion programs that will let you convert between any format supported on your computer for these.Originally Posted by the_new_guy
Well I have some great links for you if you have not seen them already.
Avsforum is THE forum for AV Home theater stuff on the web.
a direct link to the HTPC (home theater PC) forum. Same level forum with HTPCs as this is with carpc s. Great info. Alot of people are using an HTPC straight to a power amp and bypassing a standard HT receiver altogether.
Seems to be the best Tivo type of software for HTPC's. There are others as well such as sage tv. I haven't used the snapstream software yet but it looks great to me from what I have seen.
Wow, nice, now howcome this isn't more popular? It looks like it would be perfect for carputer use.Originally Posted by Aftaab001
They are actually almost done with a carpc setup that looks really nice (integrated XM, etc). However, It seems to be delayed. Unfortuantly when they came on here, they got flamed for charging $50 for it. Do a search on here it's called "Cruise Control"
