RightEmu - test needed

I've just finished the Right click button emulator for those who are using touchscreen and don't have a right mouse button :D

INSTALLATION
Just unzip and start the application.

USAGE
Once started the application, you'll find a small pointer in the tray that is used as monitor for the timeout period and for parameters configuration (only timeout for now).
edit:: The behaviour is very simple: keeping pressed the left mouse button (or your finger on the touchscreen) for more than the timeout period and, when you'll release the button, the tool will perform a right mouse click.
If you release the finger before the timeout you'll obtain a normal left click, moving the mouse outside a defined threshold area or any other mouse event results in normal mouse behaviour.
edit:: Double click on the tray icon opens the settings dialog, right mouse click (real due to backwards compatibility with 98/ME hooks) opens the menu with the three basic options: Settings, Suspend, Exit.

I'm testing it out with my 2 button mouse, maybe that's why it doesn't work. I'll test it out with my TS later.

edit:: Hehe, oops. Press and Hold as long as your timeout, then release and the right click works.

It works. You need to right click on the cursor in your task bar and change the timeout to like 2 then apply. The just left click on something and hold the mouse button down for a quick 3 count.

I was able to test it out and it does work for me but one recommendation... I noticed that if I hold mouse pointer over file/option and click and hold the left mouse button for the set amount of time, the "right click" doesn't happen until I release the button. Would it be possible to have it automatically after "set amount of time" to initiate a "right click" and just pass off my remainder of the "left click hold" as nothing?

Sounds weird what I'm asking?!?!? The reason is because while I was holding the mouse pointer with a left click option, I didn't realize when the right click was completed until I let go of the button. I've noticed on some devices in the past that say "1 sec" is set, I hold the left click for 2 secs, after the 1st second passes the right click is performed and the 2nd second just goes to limbo. That way I knew when the click was confirmed...

It should work with 1/2/3 mouse buttons. So it should be something else...

Works!! It's hard to get with fat shaky fingers on the touchscreen though, windows wants to always drag whatever icon I'm trying to right-click. Works better with stylus. Thanks!

learic: I don't understand very well what're you asking for. You want the left hold to become a right hold after the timeout and then to complete the right click on "finger release"?


NOTE: the right click doesn't work as hold actually, when you release the button after the timeout, the tool performs a real right click (RIGH DONW, RIGHT UP). This because you may want to use left drag also after the timeout (then just move the mouse and you'll come back to normal behaviour).

As someone noticed in version 1.0.0.8, some areas are unusable for right click emulation. Due to the lack of low level hook on Win98/ME, I can't offer a common solution to this. To offer a more accurate tool for NT/XP users only, from now I'll mantain two variants per version (where needed).

Also in 1.0.1.1: a pair of bug fixed and a new feature to keep vibrations under control.

P.S. the only difference between XP and 98 variants is the DLL file, while 98 version runs also on XP, XP one don't runs on 98.

I don't know if this problem/bug can be fixed, but whenever I change XP to single click mode, the right click menu briefly shows up then goes away. IE: I click on a program, it loads, then the right click menu shows up and disappears. To recreate this bug: change windows to single click mode (windows explorer -> tools -> folder options -> under the general tab change to "Single-click to open an item (point to select)".

Seems pointless to me to use double-click mode w/a touchscreen. :confused:

Works flawless!! Even with fat shaky fingers!! I changed Timeout=5 and Pixel Threshold=20x20. Great work.
