You'll have to check which winamp you have, but check this plugin:

i've searched the posts here, but the search interface sucks, so i'm going to post this. i'm putting my car back together today and i was wondering if there was a way to make winamp automatically play on windows startup. i don't have my screen finished yet, so i don't have a way to see if i'm clicking on the right icons. i want to just start the car and let the mp3's play, it doesn't matter what order they're in. thanks

just make playlist file .m3u and put it in startup folder, eithrt by drag/drop in start menu or just navigating to right folder. Loading the m3u file onstart up will cause loading and playing the play list. I used you use my desktop as alarm clock and seting schedule task in standart schedular in win98 I think.
Take a look for a plugin called Resumer.
I used it when I was using just Winamp on it's own, set to save the song state every 10 seconds, it worked brilliantly

You can also put a link to winamp.exe in the startup folder, that's what I do.
The plugin i posted is what Confused described. It not only saves the position of the track, starts winamp, and has some other nice features.
