It all seems impressive and safe except voice command recognition works real great when your parked, like damn near 100% accurate, but when your moving with engine, road, and particularly open window noise your accuracy gets cut in half. I had the pleasure to use one of the early clarion auto PCs and I thought the technology and its potential was great except it was built around this voice interface that just didn't work in a real vehicle enviornment.

This will be the future, but I wouldn't count on it taking hold until microphones and noice cancelation get a whole lot better.

It has already been proven that the voice commands stink! The guy does say that the Mercedes S-class and BMW 7-series uses windows automotive and voice commands... do i need to say more? Even the guys from Top Gear (TV-program on cars in the UK) agree.

And if you think of it seriously, they aren't doing anything new, they are doing the same thing as all the people on this site. The only difference is their IMMENSE budget! Even a little extra for a 46" plasma...
Why is it drug addicts and computer afficionados are both called users?

Even while parked, in a Microsoft promo video, the car asked him "What did you say?"

    Hilarious.

And who the hell installed that system? The head unit was sticking out like a full inch, and looked really inconvenient. Ugly.

I wish my Treo 600 had bluetooth though. Damn it.
