    Symbian OS SDK coders??

    Anybody have any experience in coding with the Sybian OS SDK for Nokia or Sony Erricson here?

    Was thinking of getting a nice remote control companion going to complement AIMEE
    Anybody interested?

    Yep well ive had the idea for several years, yep AIMEE's been that long in the pipeline
    i used to own a Symbian OS 60 Phone the Nokia 7650 which wouldve been perfect for the job, alas i broke it and lost interest in the project, but i may buy a symbian UIQ handset soon so that any thing written with the SDK should work on Most Symbian Handsets.

    Sony Erricsons and newest Nokias are touchscreen too so a nice skinnable remote control could be made to control AIMEE from the phone, many ideas.
    Such methods of communication would be IRDA, Bluetooth or if AIMEE is web enabled, by that i mean connected to a GPRS handset there will also be TCP over IP , so infinite range could be achieved, like i say just ideas at the moment. Any help is really appreciative.
    heres the link to the sdk's
    http://www.symbian.com/developer/sdks.asp

    p.s yep just like bemused pluging for winamp, infact the protocol for bemused is freely avaliable could save lots of time and effort.

    hm i just got the nokia 6230 atm so it would be hard to develope a remote for UIQ or series 60 i could develope only for series 40 or java. but java has the problem with bluetooth if i use the nokia java sdk the software will only work with Nokia phones wich support MIDP 2.0 because every make has its own bluetooth classes. Im trying to trade my 6230 with a 6600 so that i get series 60 too.

    /// edit ///

    I think programming for PPC should be a less problem for me but at the moment i dont own a PDA because my one is broken and they charge me 290 to fix it but i bought it at Amazon for 330 so i think i will get it back without repair and sell it on ebay as broken so i get a little money .

    But feel free to dnate a 6600 or a PDA to me.

    PocketPC should be reasonably easy Andrew, as we can use Embedded Visual Studio to do it It's just these Symbian phones

    jap ppc is no prob but the **** is that nearly every manufactuere has tons of different java versions on their mobiles and so we could only code for one manufacturer maybe the J2ME Wireless Toolkit from sun will work on more cellphones but its much harder to code than with the model specific SDKs from nokia or SonyEriccson

    If one of us writes a bit of software to use on a PocketPC, then yeah!

    Whether that will be available on release or not depends on how the rest of the coding goes
