Can we get a screen shot?
Hey boys and girls...
I have noticed that for a while people have been asking for a digital speedo, some people have thrown around a few ideas but nothing as yet, but i may be worng.
While i was working on another project i got a bit side tracked and came up with this little proggie. It uses the RMC string, runs on COM1 and all the usual NMEA settings.
Let me know what you think.
Download the speedo here
Also i was interested in seeing the difference between actual car speedos and actually gps based speed, do some tests and let us know.
My car a '96 Skyline GT is accurate to 3km/h at 100km/h then its way off.
Also for those interested here is my mini itx puter, all made into a 5 1/4" external case.

Can we get a screen shot?
My handheld GPS has a built in digital spedo. I wedge the unit on my dash/windshield. It's accurate to about 2 mph. (Depends on the signal strength and accuracy of the GPS, which is ususally about 25 feet). I'll go for a drive and toss up some pictures.![]()
Here ya go, how about two.
The 1st is what shows up wnen I launch it. ( dont have a GPS reciever connected to this PC)
Also, can we get a MPH version?

also i forget to tell you guys that it also logs the incoming NMEA sentences in the same directory, as a text file, it overwrites the existing one
