Two choice on boot up in wondows XP...help?

Wiped the drive, and reinstalled xp home. Now when I start it up it gives me two choices. (Both the same) Xp home edition, or xp home edition. And it starts to count down from 26 sec.
I always choose the 1st one. I don't want this any more!!
Can you help me get rid of it?

Obie one your my only help!

You bet... edit the boot.ini to get rid of the second option.

i believe you can go to a dos prompt and type "edit boot.ini" and remove one of the entrys for Windows Home. It doesn't sound like you "wiped the drive".

remember to make boot.ini not read only so you can edit it.

Right click my computer...properties...advanced tab...under startup and recovery click settings...choose the OS you want to get rid of, and uncheck the Time to Display Box...then change it to the default operating system install you want (if you want to keep your original installed OS then change it to the second, if you want to use the newer install leave it on the first)...click edit button...delete the corresponding OS line that you wanted to get rid of...badda bing close that and get out of your settings....maybe theres some extra steps in there that arent really needed or whatever but its what I know works
