I haven't looked into it too much, but I was under the impression that the kernel drivers for these touchscreens provided input events and directfb has support for this.

I would like to help. I was actually trying to do the same thing. I'm however a learn as I go, I care more about getting this done. I know there are other alternatives however I would be more then happy to help, you can email me if you would like however i very rarely check this board anymore... its admin@mynamehere.org
