    I don't really know yet. The GPS mechanism I am using gives me co-ordinates of, for example I am in Massachusetts. As I wrote the LAT/LON out I would get, for example:

    lat="42.80236" lon="71.1222266666667"

    When I map this I am way off, if I map with:

    lat="42.80236" lon="-71.1222266666667"

    It is spot on. The GPS returns the coordinate as a REAL, I just need to sort out what is happening and when and if I need to alter it. Not sure f the guy in Cali used my program or not, if he did then it worked without the "-".

    Chris.

    The California GPX file contained the negative signs. Otherwise, he would have gotten a mirror-image map of somewhere in eastern China!

    GPS Visualizer doesn't try to "guess" whether or not a GPX file contains the wrong signs on the coordinates; it assumes the file was correct to begin with.

    In that case he didn't create it with my first test version, or he'd be in China, or he manually fixed it like I did!

    no i did create it with your app. i made a couple of maps and realized that i was getting maps that were flipped and that the backgrounds weren't being fixed right, so i just changed em all to negatives.
    i forgot to mention that it wasnt getting the negatives in there right.
    btw, sexy programs from both of you guys!!.

    Thanks heliodoro, can you tell me where you are from? Or where, generally, the track was made?

    How does this look? This confirms I can't just add a "-" to fix it for the US As you are the other side of the Greenwich Meridian I manuall reset the Longitude back to positive (an issue caused by my program). This map is from www.gpsvisualizer.com

    Adam, does GPSVisualizer use <speed></speed> ? Apparently this has been dropped as a part of the GPX specification, they say many apps will still accept it, personally I think it is valuable, but I guess their intention is to calculate speed from the points/time instead - a lot of extra work that shouldn't really be needed.

    A track loaded into MapPoint. It just displays as a line which is kind of dull. It could generate a route between points but it would get very messy with hundreds of points logged by the GPS. Might be workable to create a route point every start / stop and you could then look at how you got between them compare to what MapPoint would recommend.
