    updrading windows media player 10

    PLEASE HELP !!!! this is so frustrating, its like wtf man,.,,

    I uninstalled (supposedly) windows media player 8 and downloaded the new media player 10 installer and tried to installed and here is what i got as a ****ed up error message:

    click ok on all of these prompts (like 10 of them) it goes back to media player 8.. ****ty.

    I _think_ there are 2 different versions of MP10.
    One for XP and one for the rest.
    Have you pulled down the correct version?

    If you are running XP you should be able to update MP10 via windows update I would have thought...

    yeah but i dont use windows update... i have sp1a installed that should be enough. i dont care about updating since its in my car man... i dont have the internet on there...

    buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump, anyone aware of this situation plz post a quick reply... i tried this on my other computer and it works fine. im geussing some tweaks of the windows services could do this so i enabled all the services and tried that, no luck.... tried freakin everything. what could be wrong?

    How did you uninstall WMP8?

    Just do the windows updates, it isn't that hard.

    I think what he's sayin is... he's got a a "bad" key for windows, so windows update won't let him update anything

    There have been big problems with WMP 10.

    M$ have put it up, taken it down, put it up.....

    I managed to get a working copy from M$ website, and a few days later for other machines could only get wmp 9.

    There are certain security issues that have been fixed in SP2. You may just have to update.
