Mediacar will lets you organise all of your albums like folders. So you have a list of artists, you can then go in and pick an album. So you can always put all your favorites into one album.Originally Posted by Allroy

Okay, I just got a new car (04 CR-V) so, my old LCD player doesn't seem cool enough anymore. I got a little touchscreen LCD and I've got XP (since stability seems more important if you want to do more than listen to mp3s...so..bye bye ME). I'll eventually get a GPS, but for now I want to do mostly Mp3s and DIVX/DVDs.
On my old setup, I was running Cobra 1.6 (WOW, that's old). It was really nice though because I kept a printed out list of all the playlists in my car alphabetized by band - album name, and each had a number to it. so I could just load up...I dunno...Green Day - Dookie by hitting 67 then the load button on a remote.
Now everything I've messed with seems like it's going to make me crash my car. I gotta browse through all my albums to find a directory and pick the play list or something....
I'm looking for something that just has a very easy like...keypad screen that lets you just type in 192 Enter and it'll load the playlist 192.m3u
does anything like that exist?
Thanks in advance
BTW I've looked around a little bit at some of the software on Mp3car.com..it seems like back when I first did this the links worked and some of the software was even supported! I know frodo is still kicking....but hell if I can figure out if it'll do what I'm talking about.
Thanks again

A dos window in the directory of your playlists?

I understand your concern, safety is first.
FP will read your .m3u playlist files and list them. You have a few options on how to select the playlist you want and load it. Not sure if any of them are exactly llike how you are used to. You can use a RF remote to control FP and setup keyboard shortcuts to skip through your playlist, but considering how big your playlist is going to the exact one you want will be a chore. There is a On Screen Keyboard in FP that you can use to go to exactly the playlist you want, and since all your playlist are numbers it should be easier for it to search and find it pretty quickly.
There are other methods people use, like i use my cellphone through bluetooth to control my computer and FP.
Hope that helps a little,
second thought FP will let you do exactly what you ask for.
If you get one of those small keypads that are only the number keys, set a keyboard shortcut up to bring up the OSK in FP, then just type your playlist number and hit Enter twice.
I don't know...maybe I'm the only person who really wants to listen to a whole album sometimes?
I've messed around with FrodoPlayer (seems like the way to go, since most of the other player seem to be dead and Frodo is doing a great job of keeping the software alive and supported..) and it seems like the closest thing to what I'm looking for is the folder browsing, but it's VERY skinny up there. It'd be nice if there was something where you could browse Artist- then instead of getting a list of EVERY song that artist did, it would show you a list of the Albums.
Also, here are some issues i'm having with FP that...I don't know..maybe I'm missing something. I think I have it set up right..but who knows:
in the block above the visualization it should (I think) display the Artist - Title. If the artist is "Amazing Transparent Man" That's all I get. No Song Title...I have it set to scroll that stuff in the Settings 1 Section... I would also like to see the album name there instead of the bitrate....Is there a way to acomplis these things that I'm just not seeing? I dunno.

propose the album by artist view to frodo, I think its a cool idea.

Alright, I submitted the idea to Frodo, but no reply. Sure, I'm being impatient, but ...you know how it is...I have all the parts, I'm just waiting to get it 100% configured so I can shove it in my car!
I can't beleive that there isn't an application that will just let you browse by artist then Album.
Media Engine will do it, but it's so cumbersome, it's almost not even worth while. If you create Playlists in FP, and don't tell it about mp3s...just the playlists, when you hit next, it'll jump to the next playlist instead of the next song.
Seriously, am I the first person who ever wanted to listen to a whole CD in my car?
I've got to be missing something....

If I create some m3us, put them in a folder and then tell the Database (under Settings 1) to look at that folder it will list all your play lists and play them..but if you hit the next track or fastforward button ( >> or >>|) it skips to the next playlist.
Sorry if I'm not smart enough to figure out how to make FP do what I want..but..I don't even know if it's possible.
I'm sure I'm doing a lousey job of explaining it....I just would like to browse by Artist, then once I select the artist..to be able to select the album and listen
to it in the order it's in on the CD, not alphabetical order or anything else.
For Example if you went to G- you could find Green Day- click it then you'd see - 1039 Slappy hourse - American Idiot - Dookie - Insomniac - Warning
Is that possible with FrodoPlayer?
Thanks, and sorry if I'm misrepresenting your software due to my lack of knowlege of the program.
