    Question CueCat plugin

Is there anyone out there working on a plug-in that would use the CueCat barcode scanner(available for free at Radio Shack) for direct song selection. (essentially doing the +###+ keypad routine in one pass of the scanner)

Here is the reasoning for this question. I want to use a keypad controller for the play, pause, stop, back one song, forward one song, and shuffle functions of winamp. Each function would have its own button on my MP3 head unit. And I would directly select a song using the cuecat to scan a barcode from a paper playlist.

    Or am I just dreaming???

    Simon

PS If no one is working on this could someone send me their keypad plug-in code and I'll base a new plug-in on that.

This BBS has many discussions on the cue cat among other things, and some links.

Just search the IOpener pages, or the whole site.

I don't know if anyone has done what you are looking for yet.

Don't have a plugin but I am using the cuecat and a keypad in the jeep. What I did was write a VB program that starts winamp and them passes commands to it via api calls. It has the following right now.

Cuecat scans - direct song entry
    #### and Enter - direct song entry
    + next track
    - prev. track
    * pause
    /0 enter toggles random
    /999 enter stop
    /888 enter end vb program

The / commands could be unlimited. ie load playlists, call other programs, send any api to winamp.

I also have a word document that prints the barcodes and song titles. The program and word document are on my freedrive if you want to take a look. I will post the source code if you want it. I need to clean it up a bit.
If you know if it is possible to make a winamp plugin from vb let me know I've been looking for sample code with no luck.
The link to my freedrive is in a previous post. Just search for cuecat and you should find it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Here is the link to my freedrive. You can download the install for the vb program, word document, and free 3 of 9 barcode font.

The link worked fine for me so the link itself should be good but you do need a freedrive account to get the files. (or sign up for one)

Just found some info on winamp.com that has examples of how to create plugins with vb. I will read over it and see what I can do. I have been wanting to make it a plugin also and wasn't sure if vb supported the proper calls, etc... Stay Tuned..
