    98lite -- which front end?

Is anyone using 98lite? If so, what front end are you using?

    Thanks,

any version of windoze (including 98lite), several versions of UNIX, LINX
Pick one you like or are comfortable with or wish to learn.... have at it

    1. I searched and found nothing meaningful, or current enough to be useful.

    2. I don't care about other OSes or other flavors of Windows.

    3. If you can't answer the question, please don't reply.

    Don't get mad
I use my development version of PyCar under 98lite and it works pretty good for my needs.
    From what I tried:
    MediaCar works good enough.
    MediaEngine works also.
Do not see any difference between 98lite and regular 98SE though. Just ask those who has 98SE and you're set...

98 Se on a decent machine runs pretty well for just a few apps, I used my Toshiba PII366 w/98 for the longest time, I was only running media engine and some divix stuff. No lockups or weird errors. I didn't really have a need for lite since it ran so well.

Interesting. I might try out MediaCar.

MediaEngine requried a bunch of stuff, and I finally gave up. I had 98lite chubby installed, and had to add directx, gdiplus.dll, and a few others. It stopped logging errors, but still wouldn't boot. At that point, I was able to get FrodoPlayer going with just the addition of WMP 7.1. As far as I can tell, nobody is running the current version of MediaEngine; but I could be wrong which is why I posted.

I'll grep on 98se and see what turns up in the forums. Thanks.

Uhm.... Did answer the question, but you did not like the answer.... not my problem.

This thread says it is unstable:
    want quick Win 98 bootup

This shows pros and cons of OSes:
What OS are people using to run their car PC?

But you have made up your mind already.... No telling you anything. Good Luck

    Truckin,

I think my question might have been misunderstood. I wasn't looking for opinions on 98lite in this thread, I am wondering about what front ends those people running 98lite are using. The only existing threads on this topic are very old, and predate the current releases of many of the popular packages such as MediaEngine and FrodoPlayer. If you have experience running a front end on top of 98lite please contribute. I am definately looking for input on this question.

I am sorry if I was abrupt. I was a little put off by the SEARCH response and may have been a little defensive.
