how bout, forward / back an album. If you have your mp3's set up in directories for each album, as most of us do, the how about being able to go to the next album (much like a changer)
hey its food for thought.
I have started designing a MP3 application and I am looking for input for more features.
I am using the Windows Media SDK and I will eventually implement the Speech API.
So far my Specs are:
Input:
IrMan
KeyPad
Keyboard
Mouse
Output:
Serial Character LCD (Customizable)
Parallel Character LCD (Customizable)
TFT VGA-SVGA
TFT NTSC
Other Features:
Startup and Control of Other Apps Via IrMan
Menu System w/Control from IrMan
Playlists
Listen to More Songs on This Ablum
Listen to More Songs by this Artist
Listen to More Songs in this Genre
Delete Current Song from Playlist
Delete Current Song from Disk & Playlist
Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I also need a Parallel Character LCD to implement this feature. If you have one made up that you can let go cheap. I have a Serial VFD from Seetron.com.
Thanks,
John

If your going to go through with it, make sure you have add directory, not just file! I want to be able to add my "rock" directory (1200 songs, heh) or add my "misc techno" or whatnot.

Here's how I'd like it set up (criticism wanted)
Playlist Menu:
Add file to playlist
Add directory to playlist
Remove file(s) from playlist
Clear Playlist
And be able to do stuff like
Playlist -> add directory -> rock -> Our Lady Peace -> Spiritual Machines
and listen to an album that way, or just one song off of the album. Or even select the artist directory, and listen to all of their cd's.
yes? no?
Most people have their stuff arranged in the genre -> artist -> album -> song format, right?
Johnram: play with CobraII to get some ideas and Good luck with the speech API.

My player uses the MS Speech API/SDK for voice feedback. Several things I have learned:
-will not work in all machines. Probably does in 99%
-cannot speak with Media Player in other state except STOPPED.
I have also not been able to find any documentation on the Media Player object model.

are you going to make any custom made menus like (for character lcd):
push [menu] and the display will show you this:
1) Crossfader plugin
2) Speed plugin
3) anythin you want
push [2] and the speed plugin (for winamp) will start and a new display will appear:
New Speed? _%
Here, write the speed you want, like [1][0][4] (104% of normal speed) and [enter] and a macro (for example a macro made by girder or any other mfreeware macroprogm) will start and input 104 in a field in the plugin and do some other **** when you push enter.
That couldn't be so hard to make or?
please,please,please,please,please
