    No.

    I highly doubt that.

A small windows app could, but not a batch file.

Sure a bat file could shut down Windows!

    format c:

and when the computer locks up, just flip the power switch. simple...

Yeah...just a couple of lines of code and a compile and you could write a little console app to do that. If need be you could call it from a batch file.

I have written a MP3 car control app to allow me to use my numeric keypad to control winamp (i had a plugin but i found it lacking) However, I am an idiot when it comes to leet programming and used VB (my mind is too simple to comprehend C++) but I could make you an app or give you the code in VB to make a prog that at the command line can perform functions controlling winamp and the Windows UI. Of course if you are using Windows 98 or 95 you can just as easily use VBscript with Windows scripting Host (I don't know its API capabilities, but I imagine it has the API capabilities that VB has. Check out my site if you want to know more about my prog.

    Thumbs up

If you are running windows ( which you are...) just create a shortcut on the desktop with

    target: C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe,ExitWindows

    Start In: C:\WINDOWS

You can also set up a shortcut key to set this off whenever that key is pressed.
    Ex. Shortcut Key = del

    press del and thats all.

And yes, this will work in a .bat file. I just tried it on the spare copmuter sitting next to me....

As for shutting down winamp, I dont see why thats necessary. Just shutting down the copmuter will work fine.

    Have fun

That sounds like it would work great, but is there a way to set the shortcut key in windows, I don't really want to add to my start up time with a macro program or something, I am going to be using just a number pad also (ie. 17 keys), so could it be a combo of keys like enter and / or something of the sort?
    thanks for the help guys,

    Sure.

Just right click on the shortcut and choose properties.
There a line in there called shortcut key. Click your cursor where it says NONE and type the short cut you want. You will see that "NONE" is gone and your shortcut is there now.
Save your work and try it out!
