    Stupid XP Security Center

How do I turn off this security center (shield in the taskbar) it keeps popping up saying I don't have firewall turned on, no antivirus software, and auto updates off. I don't want firewall, anti virus or auto updates.
I right clicked on "my comp.", went to "manage" and in the services I turned the stuff off. It turns off, shield goes away, but when I reboot it comes back on. How do I shut this crap off, to stay off.

Right click in the system tray and select "customize notifications". Set the security center to "never show". I think that'll do it.

Just stopping the service isn't enough, you have to set its startup parameters to "Manual" or "Disabled"

I was able to go to Start/Run/msconfig/Services/ Disable security center. Never heard from it again.

For customise notifications to be clickable, you need to enable hiding icons. Control Panel -> Taskbar and Start Menu -> Check "Hide inactive icons"

To disable a service (better option) go to Services, right click on the service, click Properties and from the drop down box select Disabled
