Post winDVDsoft crashed my PC! GRRRR!!!

So I hop in the car Saturday AM, heading out for an hour-or-so drive and decide it's a great opportunity to watch a DVD. Go to open up winDVD - "The trial testing date has expired"!!! Pi$$ me off! I thought I had a cr4ck3d copy on there! Oh well - listen to tunes instead...
Sunday I go to FutureShop & buy (I hate paying 4 software...) a copy of MGIsoft's winDVDsoft DVD-player. Load it up, PC reboots, BANG! Crash!
Now it won't boot into anything but safe mode (winME). Guess I'll have to uninstall or use System Restore.
Anyone else have bad experience with this?

The question now is... Seing as I will probably end up buying a decent DVD player (software) are there any suggestions? What are your personal experiences?

I'm looking for ease of (keyboard) use. ie: In winDVD, I didn't like having to right-click on the movie, scroll down to chapter, then over to chapter number. Using arrows for that sort of thing would be much better, given my setup...

    Thanks, all...

I have the...uh..."registered" versions of XingDVD (no longer available) and PowerDVD. Xing worked better on slower computers, but I like PowerDVD better. BTW...I used the one that comes with WindowsXP when a friend brought it over, and my first impression wasn't all that great, but I'll reserve full judgement till I have a chance to check it out further.

It's built into the Windows Media Player beast. Give it a try and let us know your impression.

OK, so thanks to another member here, I got ahold of a "copy" of PowerDVD. I also picked up a new vid card last night - A Geforce 2 mx pro chipset, (mx400), 64 Megs vid RAM, TV out (composite). Hopefully, it'll support TV-out on boot without hanging my PC (like my ATI did.. I had to disconnect teh screen until I heard the Winblows startup sound).
Anyway, I still haven't been able to recover from my winDVDmax crash - I guess I'll pull the drive and slave it to a pc in the house... Might have to re-burn.. hopefully not.
Anyway, I'll let you all know how it turns out (as always ).
