Send/receive SMS's from your phone to your PC

    http://www.cellular.co.za/at_etsi.htm

Has some hayes AT command set documentation. Badly written but it was enough to get me able to send an SMS from a hyperterminal into my Samsung S105 and to read the SMS's stored on the phone. Shouldn't be too hard to write software to hide all the difficult to remember commands.

What I didn't work out was a way of detecting if a new SMS arrived without relisting all the stored SMS's.

I also tried to get an obvious ring notification (like a modem should generate) when I called the phone but couldn't.

Other thoughts - I remember seeing software that could speech control your home PC over a modem. It hooked the modem audio into a speech engine on the PC. I'd love to know how you do that since it might be the basis for a hands-free setup (PC microphone + car speakers) for a tethered (or bluetooth?) phone. If I can get handsfree, then tethering whilst I'm driving is more than adequate. And if it's impossible not to answer incoming calls with BT as I've read on the forum's here, the tethered solution would actually be preferable!

    Ponters welcome .

Yeah, I looked at that. I wasn't impressed because it hung using 100% cpu with my phone and because I was most interested in using the computer as a hands free head at which is something it doesn't support (part of BT functionality). So I started investigating how the info was got by his app. Since I'll be using XP Media Center, having the source code makes it all much better .
