    Post network at 400mbps!

    hey,
i just saw this and thought you guy would like to know about it. it is a piece of software that allows you to network 2 computers via their firewire ports and get a throughput of 400 mb/s! thats 4x a nic. i think i will try this for adding mp3's to the car. http://www.unibrain.com/products/ieee-1394/firenet.htm

What's the maximum length for a firewire cable? I'm thinking I'd have to park my car pretty close to my PC to get them connected via FireWire.

after putting the mass on it @home , just burn the new ones on cd, and copy em over, then you've also got a backup of everything....

oh BTW windows XP has the support built in automatically. just plug the cables in, and it'll even recognize that you've connected 2 computers and setup the network for you... it's pretty cool.

however from your exact point "how often do you hook up the computers? once a month?" why does it matter to go firewire? just do normal ethernet and make it easier on yourself, since you're rarely going to use it anyways.
