Fastest DOS boot possible
I am booting dos off a cd (loads ramdisk, creats playlist in ramdisk, loads SB16 drives, loads NEC generic cdrom driver, sets sound levels for sb16, opens mpxplay) Is there any way to do this process faster? perhaps load the bootfiles into the ramdrive and run them from there? Right now it takes about 20 seconds, I would like to trim that down as much as possible. (I need to write the playlist each time the computer is booted because I don't want to have to create a new playlist for each cd) What takes the longest is the cdrom loading and the SB16 settings. Also, this is on a pentium 75, is it worth it to use DOSIdle?

20 seconds is probably *** good as you are going to get, I can get mine down to 10 if I completly strip it of features, it sets at about 20 right now
Yeah, 20seconds was as fast as I got my P75 with CDrom and ESS sound card...
