Post MAD ( MPEG Audio Decoder )

MAD plug-in for WinAMP is available.
This mp3 decoder has 24 bit PCM output and
sounds fantastic. Get more info at:

Maybe im wrong here, bit this seems a bit pointless.
All mp3's from a cd source are 16bit. Why decode them at 24 bit, only to convert them back to 16bit again when the sound is sent to ths soundcard? Its like scanning a picture at 16bit colour, saving it as 24bit colour, only to convert it back to 16bit colour on viewing.... no quality is gained...

Anyway, i hope someone proves me wrong, as extra sound quality is always good.

If the soundcard supports 24 bit output, it will sound better. The sound is interpolated if you upsample it to 24 bit and the result is better sound quality.
But most people can't hear the difference.

Yup, and let me tell you that I am having a hard time keeping my turntable from skipping over bumps, and I am going through vacuum tubes for my amps at an alarming rate due to engine vibration...
