How fast does it boot? (System specs would also help)
And are you using your own shell (like winamp) or are you using explorer?
on a duron 700 with 256 megs of ram it can resume from hibernate (turned off) in about 20 seconds. (this is on a system I ahve at home) full bootup takes a little longer but on that system it is still under 45 seconds total from the time I hit the keyboard to turn it on or the power button.
Some of the software you guys use may not work. XP is built around NT. From what I see, everyone was using 9x for there system. Since this is true, the software author was prolly using the win95pio.dll to talk with the parellel port. But it won't work in NT. NT dosen't allow direct liking to the parellel port, so they would have to modify some of there code..
I don't know if this is true, but make sure you do some testing before you doing anything big..
I dont think this is the case (Haven't installed it yet, but i CAN get it earlySome of the software you guys use may not work. XP is built around NT. Nothing yet.....
im running it off a AMD 1.4mhz Athlon, 256 megs of pc2100 ddr, Epox mobo. Its a nice *** system and it boots in like 20 sec without the bios and that includes all the programs loading.

Heh, I'd hate to have my mp3 player suddenly shut down in the middle of a road trip because I changed a HD or a video card.
Seriously though, is this not a bit of overkill on the amount of cpu power required for just an mp3(and possible DVD/mpeg) player? The min specs are almost as much as my year old computer.
Loved by millions.
no, no, thats my home computer!!! my carputer is only a 475mhz.
