Here is my situation now, after a lot of work i could get the dos system to access the windows xp shared partition, but i can't get the windows and even the dos itself to access the dos machine via network. It says now that the server is not started. Guess i'll need another program. The one I have is the Dos Network Client 3.0 and i think i need something like Dos Network Server. I'll check out the bootdisks for a similar program.

This was my conclusion also. I gave up trying to get the Windows machne to access a DOS share and lived with the DOS machine accessing the windows share, pulling data across rather than pushing it.

It has split screen file transfers (host on left, client on right side) which makes it very easy to transfer between computers. It supports IPX, Serial, and Parallel transfers. Very nice piece of software.

Only downfall is Fastlynx doesnt support long filenames and truncates everything.

What are you running on DOS to share files? Simply installing the networking doesn't give this function, I don't think.

I also installed the WG1049 update that allows dos to share files.

    FaslLink didn't work eighter...

I think i'm getting close. Do I need to configure a WINS server? When i try to load the file sockets.exe i get a message saying that the hostname was not found on the tcputils.ini. But i already added it. Could anyone help me with this socket problem?

Nervermind. I'm just going to write a .bat script that makes the mp3car copy all the files from a specific windows folder. I saw this great idea browsing this same forum.

Thanks a lot for your help and sorry if i caused any trouble.
