    Question Sub divisions of mp3s

I would like to subdivide my list of mp3s into say, comedy, rock, etc.

How would I do this, and make it so I can just press a button on my numpad to go between the playlists?

    I'm using Winamp,
    thanks.

You can create a playlist for each. Also check into the Albumlist plugin for winamp. You might then be able to accomplish that by your directory structure.

Try creating a playlist for each like Meatball said. Then you can use EZ Macros to create a macro (it's VERY easy to do. even an idiot like myself can do it) to switch to a diferent play list with a key combo or create an .exe file with the same program (again VERY easy) and exicute it to switch playlists.

    Hope this helps...

But playlists suck! They don't update when you add MP3s to the directory. I found a work-around for that if you are interested. You can make a shortcut like:
    Code:
    "C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe" "D:\My Documents\My Music\Classical"
And it will load the whole directory. And as you know you can set hotkeys to a shortcut. And since it is loading a directory and not a playlist, whatever files you have added will be listed.

yeah, but then, you don't have the tracks the original order of the album and all the albums will be mixed and stuff.

Unless you name all your mp3s like this:

    Orbital - Middle Of Nowhere - 08 - Style.mp3
(Artist - Album - Track Number - Song Title)

I know, I know... I'm sooo picky but I'd like to have my MP3 player work just like a super sweet CD-changer (no incomplete CDs, and instant access to anything that I wanna hear)

So, how would you go about organizing that?

Well then make directories for each album, if you want it like a CD changer.
