    Shutdown program

    Does anyone know of a win32 shutdown/reboot program which is work like a dos command line and can shutdown or reboot the computer when called? I am writing a Java mp3 car and needs similar program to handle the reboot function

    I wrote this and tested it on NT and 98:
    <a href="http://crv.mp3car.com/shutdown.html">shutdown.exe</a> - try it out and see if it works. The source code is available there too.

    Thank you soooooo much!!!!!! That is exaltly what I am looking for!!
    As you may know, Java is platform independent and does not provide any platform independent feature such as shut down. Now my program can just execute your program when need to shut down adn my program remains platform independent.

    just type....
    or shell to....
    c:\windows\rundll.exe user.exe,exitwindows

    to shut down windows

    homebrand, do u know the command for restarting?
    and how do u force off an application?

    You need to send a windows api message for that. I don't think you can do that from the command line. You need a little prgram like the one above. It's fairly simple.
