Try changing the remote. IRman works with almost everything, but you just have the wrong remote.
Check if the COM2 works well, buy plugging something else on it. Maybe there is a conflict on the port or it's not connected correctly to the MB.
Try to connect it to COM1.
    Can't think of anything else...

I've got a slightly different problem with IRman, it all work 100% on the main PC, but on the mobile, it can be set up OK, but then it doesn't do anything when it's supposed to. The port is OK as the mousr can run on it fine???
    Any ideas?

My problem is that the computer wont actually detect the IRman module thingiee. I havent been able to try remotes on it yet.
Sorry for not making this clear

If you are using a cable to extend the IRMan make sure it is a straight through cable, and not a null modem cable.. I used mouse extension cables for mine, and it worked fine

mda, are you using an inverter or a DC-DC power supply? Many DC power supplies do not supply -5 volts. This voltage is not needed for most computer operations, but it is used for serial communication. If you're using a DC-DC power supply, this may be your problem. That's my only suggestion.

I'm using an inverter, and it still behaves the same when I plug it into the mains with an extension cable.
I wonder if the mobo is damaged???
