    Embedding audio/video: Where to start?

Hey, I want to make my own car software, and am having trouble finding out how to embed audio and video into my application. I have never really done anything like that before, and dont even know where to begin. I was thinking of trying to just embed the Windows Media Player in, being it can play all the formats that I need, but I dont really know what to look for or anything. Also, I want the video to actually play in a predesignated area on my visual basic form, rather than just remotely controling the media player.

I know that I could just make a skin or something like that, but that is not really what I want to do.

Anyone have a link to get me in the right direction? Thanks

    Matt

Easiest way would be to add in Windows Media Player. Right-click on the toolbox. Add item->Windows Media Player. For .NET select the COM tab (It's a COM object) and find it there. THat's pretty much it. Oh, set the visible property to false. You'll be able to see the video and play audio but the controls will be invisible.

You can also install the Windows Media Player SDK and get the control from the toolbox that way in .NET.

Yeah, I noticed that changing visible to false didnt do anything... but I found out how to do it, so its all good.

What would the advantages of the SDK be, any?
