I know that Aiwa is releasing one this summer, but I've heard alot of horror stories involving Aiwa equipment.
Is anyone running Linux on a BookPC for a carmp3 player? My current setup on my BookPC is running Win98, which although is the easiest to use, takes way too long to boot. DOS won't work on the BookPC because of my soundcard which isn't compatible with any of the DOS players available. I have heard that Linux will work, but being unfamiliar with it, I'd like to talk with someone who has already done it to see if they can boot it fast enough to make it worth switching over from Windows.
BTW, has anyone seen the Japanese Kenwood headunits that will play mp3s on CDRs? They are already out in Japan and are supposedly hitting the shelves here this month. I might just scrap my whole PC mp3 player for one of those when they come out.

I don't know about the Kenwood one, but Awia's has NOT shipped yet. I ordered mine last month at least, and well, at that time I was #541 on the waiting list. So, if you want to get one now, my luck to you. Also, local shops don't caray this thing all that often, and big names just say, MP3 is illigal, and leave it at that.
