Interchange - Copies files from USB Media

Part of an application I've started called Interchange, this application will automatically copy all data from a USB Stick once inserted.

    http://www.mpug.co.uk/interchange.zip

Put the ini file contained in the zip in the root of c:\ on your CarPC, edit the ini file to the paths for your setup (Explanation in the ini file).

run the executable on startup of the CarPC, it will sit in the background and detect the insertion of a USB Stick, it copies the data over immediately to the path contained in the ini file.

There is no file error checking, the system overwrites the data no matter whether it exists or not.

I still need to find a way to programatically disable the Windows XP dialog boxes on the insertion of USB Media - if anyone can help let me know, also any problems let me know. Interchange will evolve over time, hopefully to an entire media transfer system.

Once you get this dialog, select "Take no action" and check "Always do the selected action"

    Nice job UK MP3Car!!!
this is pretty sweet, and a nice way to sync small amounts of data. Will this also work with a usb harddrive?

Will work with any USB/flash media that uses the USB Bus. Let me know if any changes are required. I will be adding further features soon including:

    Wireless/Wired Transfer

Copying of different information, i.e traffic, POI, e-mail/web etc

If Ness the ability for the software to 'resyn' the frontend databases if the sdks for the frontends allow this.

Remote access from a desktop to the CarPC for remote admin - handy for those with no screen in the car, ability to send data direct from desktop to CarPC.

Zorro - for some reason the "Always do the selected action" doesn't come up on my machine, that why I asked.

Hmm... do a right click on that device in the file explorer and click "AutoPlay" to see if it's there.

This sounds like a great program. I don't have time right now to test it, but to make it more useful to my self (and probably others) would it be possible to create a list of directories that you transfer files to, and then when the program detects the USB drive, the list pops up and you just click where you want them? I ask because I will be transferring movies and music with a jump drive, and I would rather save them to the right directory the first time instead of saving them to a directory and then having to transfer them to where they should go.

Edrex - I'll be setting different paths for different 'filetypes' in the next few days, possibly tomorrow if I get chance to fire up vb.

    sound good.
I would leave out the remote desktop though.
There are allready many apps that you can use to do this, (VNC, pcanywhere, winxp remote desktop etc) unless you are bringing something significantly different/better to the table, i wouldnt burn the time redoing whats allready done.
