Thread: Umm windows ME isnt even out yet...

Windows ME made RTM (which means it is final and being made into a cd to be shipped out). Some of us are officailly beta testing Win ME (or were) and some of us get it a less legit way.

I don't knoa about you, but I don't see a point in spending $200+ for a modified virtion of Win98se, whatever the reason. Now it can play more sounds, and stuff. Goto Windows update, and your os can do that to, without the money it cost.

Not only that, but its at lot faster and more stable than 98.

I read at someones website it boots at around 20 sec. Dont know if it's true or no but sounds awesome. Ill probably just borrow a copy from a friend... Anyone know what retail orice will be on it?

The quickest boot time is supposed to be 30 sec. with the hardware configured correctly. As for the price ? Does anyone pay for software any more ? (just kidding, maybe ?)

My box uses WinME (final version).
It's a Celeron 400Mhz, 48Mb RAM, 8GB HD + CD.
I use Cobra II for SHELL.
My system boots in about 20 seconds (tried a couple of times to time it, I got times between 18 and 24 seconds, for sure I am far under 30 seconds) removing all the checks in the bios.
I ain't a MS supporter, but I have to admit WinME (aka Win95 5th edition) is a very good OS.
Did I mention, its 20 seconds with network support? I am sure I could gain a couple of seconds if I uninstall the ethernet...

Probably a lot more than that. In 98lite on my box, putting in my NIC card adds like 8-15 seconds.
