    Post Keyboard Plugin for Winamp

Just built a home player for my brother. For remote control of Winamp I bought a Netsurf Pro 900mhz wireless keyboard. Works great up to 100 feet away from the computer.

Since this is a regular keyboard, you can control Winamp by using the usual hotkeys. To go to a specific song, you type J, type in the song name, and off it goes.

The problem is that this isn't a perfect solution for finding songs, because of mutiple songs with the same or similar titles, etc. The monitor is usually not visible so you never really know what song you're choosing.

Does anyone know of a plugin for Winamp that would allow me to just type in the playlist song number and have it jump to that song? I have seen mention of the keypad plugin, but don't know if that would work with a regular keyboard.

    Thanks.

    Hey,
Don't know what your keyboards layout is but if its a regular one try blackwinds keypad controller. Pretty good.

use +###+ to go to specific number ( ex: +12+ to go to song 12

    Hope it helps.

Thanks bkmatt. I just downloaded the file, unzipped it, and all I got was a dll file and a readme file. I have no idea what to do next. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone know which is better, the Blackwind program or the uncrippled carplayer.com program I keep reading about?

    Thanks in advance.

I tend to prefer blackwind's but then again I may be a bit bias =).

Anyway, I wrote the controller to improve on the existing ones out there but that doesn't mean mine's the best for you (it will do what you want though). Honestly, I'd suggest you try them all out till you find the one that works for you.

As for the install it's done just like any other winamp plug-in, All you need to do it to install it is unzip (or move) the DLL to winamp's plug-in folder (directory). The plug-ins folder default location is c:\program files\winamp\plugins\. After that just run winamp and play with it a bit.

    Have fun,
    Blackwind

Just remembered mine will also disable various keys on a system wide level to prevent winamp from asking for input (I have no monitor on mine either). The 'J' jump to key was one of them.... Just figured you may want to know.

Blackwind, I just installed it and as you said it does exactly what I want. Thanks for writing it and making it available. Based on your last message, I did try to use the "J" key to jump to a song and it worked great. In other words, I can go to a song either by using the "J" key or typing in the song number using the keypad. Exactly what I needed. Maybe you didn't disable the "J" key after all.
