MPXPLAY AWE64 locks up on startup
System Config: P133 16MB AWE64 10GB DOS7.0
When I try to start MPXPLAY from a clean boot, it locks up, however if I go into win95 and then Restart the computer in msdos mode, I can run mpxplay just fine. I am running CTCM (Creative Plug and Play configuration manager) before starting it. This sets the blaster environment variables. I have read of several other people running awe64 and mpxplay and I am not sure why I am having problem.
config.sys:
device=c:\dos\himem.sys
device=c:\dos\emm386.exe
devicehigh=c:\dos\oakcdrom.sys /d:mscd001
dos=high,umb
stacks=20,512
autoexec.bat
lh c:\dos\mscdex /d:mscd001
c:\sound\ctcm

Well, I seem to have found out where the problem was. I am using an old piece of sh$% Trident video card. Sometimes, when viewing color text in DOS, it comes through in B/W. After rebooting, it will come through in Color. When it comes through in color, MPXPLAY works. I think I'm going to replace the video card.
Has anyone tried to run MPXF and IRDOS together? I have tried this and my system will crap out every time. If I try IRDOS from the command line, it works just fine.
BTW Here is my updated config.sys and autoexec.bat
config.sys
device=c:\dos\himem.sys
stacks=36,256
FILES=40
device=c:\dos\emm386.exe noems
DEVICE=C:\CTCM\CTCM.EXE
autoexec.bat
path=c:\dos;c:\mpx\;c:\sb16
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 E620 T6
SET SOUND=C:\SB16
SET CTCM=C:\CTCM
cd \mpx
mpxftsr
rem irdos 1
dos4gw mpxplayd
rem mpxf
