A quicktook me here
While beeing in this thread currently, I thought I could ask you guys if anyone of you knows any bluetooth cellphone software suitable for carpc's other then PhoneControl.
For those who wonder why PhoneControl is not a program of my choice (while it is obvious I should support it) I have a short explanation. Please take it as these are my opinions and may not be acceptable for others. PhoCo is IMHO a little bit too hard to configure, maintain and use - especially if you do not have touchscreen. It is way too complex for me - all I want is simple backgroung running application that would pop-up skinnable window "Incomming call from %*^578" with two buttons only - red phone icon button and green phone icon buton. If I decide to pick the phone, it should establish link with phone and setup headset profile. Thats it, no SMS functionality, no phone memory editor, no caller pictures. Small, fast and easy to skin/use program. And afterall, I refuse to install .NET pack just because PhoCo. Its NOT because I do not want to pay for software I will use (I was not using PhoCo even before it was freeware).
You can flame me, but I will accept some advices more then flames![]()

the answering and not answering of phone calls is handled by the bluetooth stack not the program, the widcomm stack sucks for this and the only real way around it is either paying huge amounts of money for the sdk to the widcomm stack, or using another bluetooth stack which will also cost huge amounts of money, i'd love to be proved otherwise but ive looked into this a fair bit

I'd like to revive this discussion (this thread appears to be like a year old). Has anyone found an alternative to Phonecontrol? I have a Treo 650 for Sprint and I jsut can't get it to work. I've set up everything in Phonecontrol and it even connected once, but it was non-functional. I never could dial with it. It seems like it just doeasn't work with the Treo 650. So I'm looking for an alternative. So far, I've found:
Mobiphone Plugin mentioned above, which is cool, but it doesn't look like it is being developed anymore
Float's Mobile Agent looks really promising. It is open-source and highly functional. So far, I haven't had any luck with this an my Treo, though. I'm going to keep trying on this one though.
One more option is using the Bluetooth Headset profile in Bluetooth neighborhood. My bluetooth adapter supports this, but my Treo can't see it so this doesn't work for me. Maybe there is something I'm doing wrong here, but I jsut can't figure this one out.
Has anyone seen anything else? I'd be willing to code a basic phone interface - at least something that let me hear the phone audio through the PC via bluetooth, but I know nothing about Bluetooth. I can do basic C++ and C# programming, but I know nothing about interfacing with Bluetooth. Any ideas woudl be appreciated!
I need an alternative too. Phonecontrol doesn't work with my new Razr.
