    AI and Voice activation

When i thought about getting my carputer, i didnt think anything could be cooler then a 7" touch screen lol
Now ive come up with a better idea.
What if you could talk to your computer, and it would talk back to you and do things for you!

Well theres an AI program out their called A.L.I.C.E, well of course its not real AI but you can talk to it and it talks back (supposibly the most advanced one out their). Now there is also plug ins that let you use a microphone to talk to it that uses voices recognition software then it talks back to you!

Now there is also another plug in that lets you use VB to create front end, so my idea is to use the voice software with the A.L.I.C.E program and create a VB front end that will recognize key words or sentences like "Play Music" or "Shutdown" creating the front end in VB would be a peice of cake for me to do.

This is about the most ive looked into it and ill see if i can get some codes going when i get more time.
Im just wondering if anyone has thought or tried something like this before and maybe we can get some co-operation on this work going on.

Have you heard of NaviVoice? Check it out, it has its own sub-forum in the software development-->support software forum. Also there's Bruno Speech Recognition. This has been done, and is well beyond beta. for navivoice to see how popular it is.

OK... if the software already exists.... how is this your idea?
    Is this a shameless plug?

Instead of creating a front end with native voice recognition support, we have been making standalone programs that control the front ends. This way, the front end people can focus on making a great front end, and we can focus on creating a good voice activated interface.

My project (Bruno Speech Recognition) is in VB, and NaviVoice is in Delphi...

Check them both out and see if they are similiar to your idea.

I doubt its a plug... there's no mention of where its available. Thanks for contributing to the forum. There's nothing wrong with having more than 1-2 programs that do the same thing. It promotes choice and inspires designers to come up with new features n the like. I'll check this alice program out.

I didn't know that I tried to program in VB but it never really worked for me. I don't have the mindset for programming, I can do anything with music, but as for programming i get as far as '10 PRINT "what do i do next?"' haha

You just caught me at a bad time. I'm in the phase of a total rewrite. I still don't have all the code to start recoding, but its gonna be very organized and easy to configure unlike the previous version. Same features
