Why is OEM GPS so far ahead of PC software?

Here is the closest look we have to a OEM setup, this looks like the lexus GPS system, this is a WIP by webdog using IGskinner
As you can see this program as alot of potential, the next and I think last thing to get working 100% is the OSK and then were in business

Try FreeDrive, it is the best for CarPC in terms of interface I think... basically it is all skinnable (reason for me to switch from MapMonkey)...

Nope I'm not ignoring you Freedrive is on the list of applications for me to test. I just like to get as much information as I can before starting to test setups. We have spent a lot of time developing features that we have never been able to implement example: radio shark.

Thank you for the screen shots. These are all from IGuidance with IGSkinner? Can any one post screen shots of an OEM looking free drive setup?

try the freedrive forum, or freedrive website. As far as OEM look you can make your own since it is totally skinnable (more so than igskinner)...

with that said, based on peoples comments I'd recommend you use IGuidance+IGS since it is said to be much better with US coverage/routing... since you will be selling only to the US no need for Destinator's worldwide support,etc

camsgs3: Hehe, you used my rip-off for the CF picture LOL. Anyway, nice work on the extra buttons and the Lexus skin. Once CF 1.3 is released, I will try my hand at copying it's skin button style on to the left side of IGSkinner. You have to tell me how you changed the background color of the IGSkinner form for the bottom of the Lexus skin (that is "nudged" up), or is that just the Zoom +/- that extend all the way in to the corners?

The nudge and background will be in the next release
