Extreme minimum is 1.4ghz? Crap, none of my systems qualify for that. Definately not cut out for Epia, unless we can NLite out all the graphics improvements. Boot time, app launch time, and standby time would be nice though.

You got that from Neowin forums, or somebody else did.

Its proved to be BS. Those specs and features (although some will be in it) are not true.
2000 Sunfire build 100%, or is it ever really 100%?

I dunno... as soon as M$ makes a new os, me and the guys at work are like... um no. Wait for everyone else to beta for M$, then we'll buy into it. Why in the world would I install something that needs tons of patches into my truck computer? Especially if it is not stable or needs time to mature?

I don't know if it is true but: Update 7: STABILITY
Vista will be the most stable OS ever. Microsoft admitted that it had problems with stability with Windows ME and XP (without SP), but they really are making work of making Vista unbelievably stable. Microsoft even has made three special teams that researched Vista and future technologies for two years. After Vista is released, Microsoft doesn't even have to release any updates to make Vista stable, because Vista manages itself automatically and disables processes that can make your computer unstable and are unneeded by the applications you're running.

I actually kind of believe that as I think Microsoft has learned it's lesson. I guess we'll see though.

So it sounds like the hardward requirements above aren't true; at least as far as the memory goes.
    System Requirements

Minimum system requirements will not be known until summer 2006 at the earliest. However, these guidelines provide useful estimates:

512 megabytes (MB) or more of RAM

A dedicated graphics card with DirectX® 9.0 support

A modern, Intel Pentium- or AMD Athlon-based PC.
AMD XP 2600+/512MB RAM/120GB hard drive
    Opus 150W/DVD/GPS/7" Lilliput TS/802.11g/Bluetooth
    Installed.

man if it says 512 now... and an enhanced GUI... go ahead and allocate your budget for at least 1 gig maybe even a better video card (I'm not saying you have to)
