hey people.
i've searched but couldn't get an answer.
basically, i've got a celeron 366, running windows xp (stripped of most things via nlite), with winamp 5.something running in classic mode.
the celery runs very well, 40sec boot times (which would be far shorter if it wasn't for slow as ram checks. windows runs exceptionally well. and winamp doesn't seem to struggle (except for visualisations).
i've decided not to install this one into the car, and will be using it as a party / my room jukebox.
plans are to setup everything, with a lirc / remote and mini usb keyboard as inputs. i was going to use a 16*2 HD44780 LCD, but managed to fry it in a few seconds of total stupidity (used the red wire instead of the yellowso good bye lcd
). eventually i plan on making a nice custom case for this, with stained / clear coated wood and some fancy lights etc. i have a voodoo3 card with tv out, which will occasionally be used when at partays.
so, once this is up and running, i want to be able to use winamp from the mini-usb keyboard. it already has media / winamp preset keys (play, rewind etc). however, i want to make it so i can load certain playlists via a single keypress.
for example, if i pressed the "1" key, i want it to load my "party mix" playlist. if i pressed "2" i want it to play my "rock mix" playlist. i was originally going to use the lcdplugin which has playlist features, but not anymore.
any ideas? i'm sure it's easy, i just couldn't find the answer...
thanks in advance![]()

From the review:
Allows you more control while selecting and listening to playlist files. You can customize what happens on playlist switch and even hotkeys for playlist advancement. Handy tool for playlist control.

thanks heaps!
i'll have a look now.
[edit]. works a charm! thanks for the help.
on a side note, anyone know if it's possible to make winamp autoplay a usb key?
would you set this in windows autoplay settings?
this way, if i'd made a rushed party mix on my key, i could take that along, and when i wanted to play it, all i'd have to do is to plug it in!
cool idea, i dont know... is there a way to maybe assign a playlist there permanently, and give it a hotkey?Originally Posted by mkerr
