    Which GPS Routing doesn't SUCK?

Don't get me wrong, I love my MapMonkey / Destinator. The thing I don't like are it's directions. They always seem to be the most odd-ball and longest routes ever. It seems like it only takes into consideration the actual route and not the time. IE, it seems that if there was a highway going to the place I wanted to go, it would rather put me on the backroads, wind me through developments, little streets, etc, if it is physically a shorter distance to my location. While that is nice in concept, we all know that taking a highway, even if it's not the absolute shortest route, will be faster than cutting through developments and backroads. So I ask you - which is the best GPS software as far as routing goes?

    Dan

You may not like my answer, but the alpine navigation is the best I've seen as far as routing is concerned.... I have yet to find a pc based system that is comperable & I've tried many...

there are options you can set to determine the routing preferences though, poke around in there....

I'm not that fond of the look, but iGuidance's routing is far superior to D3's. I think most will agree with that. That's pretty much all I can compare it to, but I'm sure others have experience with other nav programs.

I've been fairly happy with iGuidance so far. The biggest tip - don't rely on navigation for places that you know your way around real well because of course you'll find it completely stupid because it didn't go your usual way.
