    Post Poll for best frontend

Whether it's frontends or GPS software, there's always a variety of choices.

It would be nice to see the results of a poll that asks what frontend everyone's using.
Although I've made a choice, it would help narrow choices for newbies or someone wanting to switch and give the developers something to shoot for (or at)... especially if they're coming in last. Reasons for choosing (most important Pro & Con) would also help.

The same poll could be used for other components i.e. GPS software, power supplies, etc.) and become a sticky in each catagory. If nothing else, it would cut down on the posts that start with "What's the best....?"

If MP3Car hasn't the time/resources, possibly a user could set it up.

Eh. I think the best way to decide on a frontend is to download and try them all. Figure out the best interface for your needs and use that one. No matter how many people say "this is the best" you'll never know until you try it.
Also, since these are all free it could be discouraging to the developers to have people ramble on about cons of their software when in all likelyhood the user didn't put enough time into testing it and are just talking out their ***. I'd rather see research done then polls read (which is in reality one of the reasons that users aren't allowed to post a poll on this site, only mod's can).

Rather than a poll, an objective review of each of the front ends would be more useful. This takes more time and effort than responding to a poll.

Still, it's a bit delicate. As edrex noted, because they are free it could be discouraging and come across as ungrateful on user's part even when there is no intent to do so.

I dont think its because they are free... it is ultimately unfair cause the functions vary!

if you need only music then most of them will be perfect... depends on how you prefer your music organized...

if you need musis+gps then it can be a bit different cause some apps embed apps or include GPS functions while others dont...

so basically the be-all and end-all frontends would probabyl have to be always Frodo/RR/Centrafuse cause they (I think) have the most functions AS OF NOW... with that said, If you dont need all the functions of RR, then you might be better served using NMC because of the way that it manages music is much better (IMHO).. you understand what I'm trying to get at?

If I understand correctly, you would like to write up an objective review of each of the front end like Bugbyte suggested.

There's no best frontend. FP is fast. I like how he integrates everything (video, DVD, MP3s, Audio CDs) into one window. RR is extremely customizable and I love how guino's been actively developing it. RR fits my needs the most. I've never tried CF but since it's not gonna be free anymore, I won't bother.

Well first of all, you could simply spen a little while in each room and see who likes what front ends. Like others have said, there is no best and the most popular one isn't necessarily the best either. DL and try them, thats the only thing to do. You will discover that soon enough. Different strokes for different folks. I think the best thing about RR is how customizable it is and how much freedom you have as a user to be part developer. Someone else may cite that as it's worst feature. I can tell you one thing, Guino is a phenomenally supportive developer. He's like a 1-man support center and road runner is becoming a thing of absolute beauty.
Its not the cards you're dealt, its how you play the hand!
