Run two frontends, one set for the top half, one set for the bottom half.
O.K., so Ive installed a screen in a rather unconventional way, it is a 12.1" widescreen turned sideways, so it is pretty vertical... has about the same real estate as two 8" screens, one over the other, but without the seam...
I have found front ends that can run at the 800X1280 res. that my screen has, but none of them actually take real advantage of my particular setup.
what I have in mind is basicaly having two apps used at the same time.. over & under each other... I would like to say have navigation in the lower half & mp3's above, or any possible combination really
when I play a dvd it doesn't fill my whole screen obviously, or it would look scrunched, it just goes as wide as the screen but only about 1/2 of the screen height....
what I would really love would be a skin that could take advantage of my setup & use two display areas that can be independantly controlled on the same screen.
I do doubt that any one here would be able to take advantage of a setup like this, so it's hard to expect any real devotion to something like this, but I don't know if this is something that can just be done on the skinning level or if it would require much more than that... any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated...
sorry for the dark picture, but this is the best way I could display what I have at the moment... I'm talking about the lower screen in this photo, it may look like two screens but it is one...this is with navigation over a dvd, but without a front end to control it..

There is nothing yet.
AIMEE which is yet to be released apparently has dual screen capability.
I'm pushing for RR to have it. (well at least leave the video running while doing other apps.)
I you could donate one of those screens to me, I could make a custom application to do anything you wanted.
-Make it act like two different screens
-Auto size DVD video
Bruno Speech Recognition - Advanced Speech Recognition designed to control any program. Extra support for FrodoPlayer and Winamp.
....now you sound like frodo![]()

thats a pretty cool setup.
I think the only way to do it is to run two frontends, which isnt a bad idea at all.
The only thing would be to find a skin thats available for both frontends so they match. Which you may be in luck , im currently working on a skin for FP and RR.
is there a way to get the front ends to always open in there predetermined space or will I have to manually set them up each time I boot?
also, can two of the same front ends be open togeather, I'm assuming not from liquid smokes answer...

Turbocad the new version of NMC will be able to do this
You can always have GPS in the bottom or top screen and when you click video the GPS window stays there and all the controls for movies show up.
Its not out yet should be at the end of the month but its set up to be dynamic so at a switch of a button GPS with AUDIO becomes GPS with video but only the controls are changed the GPS window stays there so you don't have a loading window cause all the controls are loaded into memory so when u switch it does it automaticlly.
Quite a great feature i thinkthe new version will have Freedrive built-in and im going to have a small GPS window on every single page so i never have to click gps button.
You do of course have to wait for this.
But if you are having GPS always on i would use ultramon to set were each app goes it on screen so when it loads up it will ALWAYS start in the same position.
Say you use freedrive you can have that set to the space below the screen and cause it doesn't have a boarder like map monkey you can have a skin that matches the frontend on the top half of the screen.
This way you won't be able to tell that it isn't apart of the frontend
If you need some help with that im happy to help check out ultramon you will love itim sure it does the docking on single screens aswell.
check out the video in the thread shows the new feature of creating a dynamic frontend

nin, thanks very much for the ultramon tip. that is a huge help for me, & I think that will even make running two frontends alot easier by lock docking each window... that is an awsome looking program too as I plan on adding anther monitor or two, & I wasn't sure managing them would be any less than frustraiting, but ultramon is the perfect answer there as well
I will defanately keep my eye on nmc to, I had a lot of sucess with nmc at this screen resolution & the new version also looks like it will be a big benifit to my install...
liquid smoke, matching skins also sounds like a great idea, when do you expect yours to be ready & is there anywhere to see it before hand? I'm guessing I should be able to find two similar or complimenting skins, but matching would be like candy...
