I'm just looking for main menu screen software for a car computer. Here is an example...can someone tell me what it is?

Is that just called a "Front End"? I'm really new to this car software stuff...
think of a front end as a quick launch setup... it is typically driven by a program (frodoplayer, mediacar, roadrunner, etc) and it is then skinned... so everything you can see is considered the skin and depending on how the frontend is written you can access certain functions from each mode (modes being music, movie, etc)... some frontends let you control mp3s while you are running GPS software...
so take RoadRunner, the front end is just a fancy way of controlling winamp, media player and your choice of GPS... it also has functionality for XM and FM... there is a new weather screen that pulls data (thru wifi) when available...
Centrafuse also pulls traffic data if available...
EPIA SP13000, 512 DDR400, Seagate 300GB, Belkin PCI 802.11g w/external antenna, Holux GM-210 GPS, XM Direct w/ serial, Dlink FM, Opus 120 p\s, Rockford P4004 amp, Xenarc 7" VGA touchscreen custom mounted in double din spot -- see pics and write up here!!
Oh okay ic. What is the most popular front end? I want something for games, mp3's, gps, pictures, movies, etc...

Meedio doesn't support GPS software I don't think. I used FrodoPlayer a little bit but it seems a little cheap to use. I would like to use software that is somewhat good quality and has everything I'm looking for. Can someone help me out?
Sorry about the above information...I did not use the software enough to give any good feedback. For one I didn't even know that the owner of frodoplayer is part of this message board...so I guess I didn't think anything of it when I posted that comment. I did not mean to say the above comment in a negative way. Sorry frodobaggins.

if you mean cheap, as in free, then yes, you are right. otherwise, develop your own somewhat good quality software and then criticize.
You do realize that by bashing FrodoPlayer, you're incuyrring the wrath of thousands (OK, maybe dozens) of Frodo's fanbois, all of whom happen to be smoking primates. You'll be lucky if you don't have both eyes burnt with half-finished Marlboros.Originally Posted by L-U-R-C-H
