You have to disable some services to see boot time improvement.
I just nlited an install down to 240 mb/600 mb footprint. I have booted 4 times since then and all boots are over 1 minute. I have made no other changes, but i would expect to see improvements after nliteing xp down to half of its size. I have a via m10k. Will I see improvement after a few other tweaks.

I disabled a bunch of services (about 15-20) and saw no improvement in boot time, i did a before and after and it was 64 before, and 65 seconds after. I don't think that after a 240 mb nlite install i should be above 50 seconds even with a ****ton of services running. any other advice?

defrag the drive
try bootvis to determine the time consuming processes

Reducing size does nothing for boot time. You need to optimize.

good to know, i ran bootvis and optimized, and it took like25 minutes to optimize, but it took off like 5 seconds. How much do ewf and minlogon help?

so 42 seconds of my boot time is spent in the "disk" section. You know when you run bootvis, there is the first bar graph with drivers, disk and so on... Most of my time is spent loading the "disk" does anyone know how to make this go faster other than by clicking optimize?
