Please make sure that you are using the latest Compass, and if it slows down you carputer don't complain about it to Curiosity. It's just the size of the compass.bmp . Keep "Fast" disabled and it will be easier on the CPU.

I wish that this compass thing could keep the compass image STEADY (no rotating) and just move the red needle to show where you're heading. That is a lot more intuitive to me!

Curiosity, do you think you could add that feature? I believe it would only take mirroring the 'image' of the rotating needle. Think about it, should be a simple tweak! The compass rotating image would have only the red needle, and the BACKGROUND image would have the fixed headings (N,S,W,E)

Compass gets its first skin. woot! Thanks much Bravelir and Alcool_Puro! The CPU usage really does increase with the size of the rotating image. Well, that and me drawing it at 10fps.

justintime, you can do that now. I added a "fixed north" checkbox in the config. The arrow rotation is mirrored and the sats and trails don't rotate. It just makes me feel like I'm going the wrong way.

Just curious: The new skin posted above only contained images, yet the positioning oall text etc was perfect. Where is that stored?! I saw no config file!

The config information is stored in the BMP's and then backed up to the registry ( so that if you save the files with a paint program they loose the config info but compass retrieves it from the registry). Quite smart. This way you only have to distribute the pictures.

The best way to have only a rotating needle, is to design your own skin ( a little bit of copy and past ) so that the dial is saved to the background bmp and the foreground bmp only gets the needle and , as Curiosity said, select "fixed north" .
