Cool, thanks! I was looking at that eyetoy cam....seems like pretty good bang for buck.

I notice that there are 2 out there: one is black (and a bit bigger) and the other is silver (probably half the size of the black one).

Which one do people have most (and best) experience with?

    Thanks!

Hate to change topics here, but I was wondering if anyone else out there is using a Creative Webcam for Notebooks as their primary camera? This is what it looks like:

I'm using the same camera in the front, and a 3com HomeConnect in the rear. The creative does take up a lot of CPU but I think it's all in how you choose to encode - I use DivX and don't have any major problems. With RR running, both cameras on and recording, music playing, and GPS running, and some other odds and ends, I see about 80% cpu usage. then again, I'm running a P4 2.0GHz w/512mb ram.

If you're not going to use the camera and interested in selling it let me know - I'll put it to good use

Prefect, is there a key shortcut for the Preview button? I'd like to start Capture! with the webcam off and turn it on/off via a key shortcut.

    Thanks.

Hmmm okee will implement the 5th shortcut as soon as I have time for this ... :-)

Starting with the preview off really speeds up the start of Capture!

In two weeks I will get my new carpc! CoreDuo 1.83GHz, 1GB Ram, 100GB 7200 SATA, Intel945G Board, Sirf3, OBDII *happy* This should be enough for two running Capture! tasks, navigating and the carpc software simultaneously.

Thanks. Another shortcut for the settings dialog would be nice, too.

Also, could you make it an option to hide the status bar (or make the text overlay on top) so we have more screen estate for the cam image?

okay, Ill stop with the requests now.

Hi i'm sucessfully using Capture! (fantastic app by the way) but have noticed that in some situations it will stop recording.

I've got a max size of 100mb on each file, and when it reaches this it will restart on a different file. However if during this (next) file it goes into hibination (i.e. i get to where I am going) then when I start my next journey it only records a few minutes then doesn't record any more until the next hibination cycle.

I'm not completely sure what is going on but I will do a little more testing to see If I can pin it down better.

Once again thanks for the app!

    Re: Cameras..

I was using a el-cheapo Nightvision one from ebay. It had rubbish exposure and white balance (i.e. too light during the day, too dark during the night). Since then I have got one of the new silver PS2 Eyetoys and the winxp drivers. Apart from having to manually set the video size (352x288) in the config I cannot fault it. Its exposure is excellent meaning it copes well with bright sunlight and going into tunnels etc.

Would thoroughly recomend it and it only cost me a few quid from Ebay.

I could post some videos if anyone wanted to see a sample but they are rather large...
