Nice, thanks for the vid posting. It'd be awesome to have an HD camera to get the license plate numbers of those morons!

So how did this huffyuv CPU utilization compare to your original CPU utilization? Did you notice a visible difference when running other apps?

Well when using MJPEG I got 100% CPU utilisation and the video was about 1-2fps. I don't think I got XviD to work.

As for other apps, my CentraFuse licence has expired, so I have to wait for the new versions which should be out any time now. Then I get to try embedding Capture!.exe and see how it goes.

Still haven't tried DivX, but dropping to 15fps got my CPU usage down to 60% on my M10000, this should leave enough CPU left over for other things.

A small feature request though. You have the button to move the recording into permanant storage, the best use of which I can think of is as a MoronButton, so when someone does something stupid that causes an accident, you get to keep the evidence.

We need a CopperButton so that when you get pulled over for doing something stupid, you can delete all the evidence

100% CPU usage is no problem. You can still do other things. Only the kernel time should not get to hight, because that will lock up your CarPC if its on 100%. But normal cpu usage can be at 100% all the time, that doesn't influence with other apps.

CopperButton: Haha, right ;-) But I think the police isn't smart enough to scan your harddisk in your car for videos of the crash. They don't even know what a CarPC is...

ok this may sound like a dumb question, can the eyetoy be used with ir lights?(Night vision). see i drive mostly at night with verry little street lights(one every 10 km.). and i need all the advantage i can get. i bought 100 35 000mcp IR 3mm LED's and am going to wire them up. can you please clarify? will the eyetoy work in a no light situation with ir light????

    thank you very much.

ps i bought some other webcams that seem to work realy well there 2mp for only $40, if the eyetoy works better ill return them and buy it.
Life Dosn't come with a reset button, if it did you might as well turn the game off.

most of the cameras are sensitive to ir light. you can check if you hold your remote-control against the camera and press some buttons.

if I remember it I will check next time I have the eyetoy connected to the pc.

hehe its only some sort of a hack to get multicam support...

you can set the windowstateonload to "left" or "right". then the window will only use on half of the screen.

you have to have two copies of capture in your program files folder. /capture/ and /capture rear/ for example. then configure both of the capture versions, one for the front and one for the rear camera and set one to "left" and the other to "right". then you get the screen like in the picture above.

for real multicam support I would have to completely rewrite capture...

Anyone know how to make the video at 25x speed like in the video clip?

Here is the tool hosted on my server: Capture!.Zip

I don't think the automatic translation was a good idea "C FLATS"?? That should be "CES"

So here is a brief description in my own words:

this tool enables you to record videos with a single klick from your webcam. i can be configured via a config.ini, so you don't need to use a mouse to set up the capture devices and compression-filters before recording. it is designed to need as less input as possible to do his job. video files are named and saved automatically.
check out the config.ini for setting the capture device id and the save-to path for the videos.
per default the tool generates a new file after 200mb of recording.
set "WindowStateOnLoad = maximized" for fullscreen view (disable windows-taskbar!)

Why is .Net bad?? It needs .Net because its written in C# and the DirectX.Capture Class needs .Net too. You can use Mono if you don't like MS

Something cool i recorded today: Capture_Zeitraffer_x25_25fps_wm9.avi (right-klick, Save target as... !)

    Greetz! Chris
