    Encoding Question:

I have read peoplel are saying to use the DIVX or XVID to encode the video while recording; only problem is that I don't have either of those options on the Video Compression menu. HOw would I go about getting them to appear there / use DIVX / XVID encoding? I tried indeo 5 (testing on my laptop) and the CPU hits 96-100% I am assuming DIVX/XVID would better utilize the processor?

Have you installed either of them? You must first install the codecs and then they should show up!

Thanks. I haven't yet installed them. I will try that out. I didn't know if they would automatically appear or not.

    Hi all,

Just reinstalled capture with my new cam and capture device.

I'm using a USB capture device which Capture! can use perfectly and functions great.

However, it seems that capture is causing my machine to ignore shutdown commands. I have a Carnetix P1900 which simulates a power button keypress when the ignition is switched off. When Capture! is running 90% of the time, the PC ignores the keypress and does not hibernate like it should.

Any ideas? This happened to me last year with Capture! which is why I stopped using it.

Bummer! I was going to try it, but that's a dealbreaker for me...

I have a VERY similar setup and I have no problem whatsoever with power button presses. I have tested all possible options and it works fine. I can standby, hibernate and shutdown.

I am guessing it it related to the drivers of your usb capturing device. What are you using? I have a plextor usb DIVX compressor.

BUT I have a problem or resuming form standby/hibernate. My usb device needs to be reinitialized and since Capture! doesn't do that it stops recording. It works if I restart it.

Cool app. Im using the Playstation 2 Eye Toy camera and it seems to work pretty well. I haven't tried it in my rig yet, but that will happen very soon.

    Hi Guys!

Sorry for not beeing on the forum for so long time. But you knew my page for capture I guess?

    http://www.christhomann.com/Capture.12.0.html

@arpad & Badgerboy: Capture! does not prevent the prevent the System from hybernating or shutdown. Quite the contrary, it detects the system state and starts/stops the recording after resuming.

I did not have time to add new features to Capture! lately. DualCapture! is running very smooth on my system for years now , so I was not forced to change anything.

However, if someone likes to continue developlement, fix bugs, add new features, just contact me and I can send you my VisualStudio.NET C# sources for your personal use (don't get affright about my spaghetti-code ).

    Regards!
    Chris
