Just replace it and restart MiniCam. That's all it needs.

I'm facing a very wierd problem with Minicam.
The very first time I ran the program on windows, it worked well and showed up on the screen. But once I check the buttons for "Start Recording" and "Preview during Record", close the application and re-run it again, it crashes without even showing up on the screen. Restarting windows or the application doesn't help. I tried running from different folder, de-registering the dll/control and re-registering it again, but no luck there as well.
Even more strange behavior is that the same issue is repeated on my second laptop running a fresh install of Win XP!!!
In short, I'm unable to run Minicam from both my laptops at the moment. It just crashes.
Is there any registry setting that I should clear to help me run the application again on the same machine?
When it crashed the first time, it has created a directory C:\Video which originally didn't exist but no files were present inside it since it crashed even before it showed up on the screen. Did the crash occur since the Video directory was not available in first place?
Environment
OS: Win XP SP3 (32 Bit)
Webcam: Internal webcam, External USB cam (Microsoft NX3000)
GPS: Bluetooth GPS (Holux GPSlim)
Any idea what could be wrong?
Not sure what's wrong, but you should be able to get it running again by deleting the key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CuriousTech\MiniCam1\Preview
That's actually a bunch of settings, but should do it. So does it work when you manually start recording with preview?
Thanks for your quick response.
Both the times when I tried with my 2 laptops, I followed the same pattern as explained above and it crashed the same way. So I'm not really sure whether it would work when I manually start recording with preview. I'll check and report once I'm back home.
Ok, thanks. Also try without preview and make note of which audio and video codecs you've tried.
Sure, Will do. But I can confirm that the 2 times it worked (and later crashed), it was on "Uncompressed Video" and "PCM" audio. In fact I never changed the Video/Audio settings
I'll try with other codecs and report once I'm able to start the program running again without crashing which I guess should be possible once I remove the registry setting.
Well, it looks like I broke uncompressed. Uploaded an update just now. You probably don't want to use uncompressed though. At 640x480, it would use over 500MB per minute.
Quick question Curiosity, the number in the brackets in the resolution box, is that something to do with the FPS? Obviously there is also the FPS drop down box next to it as well but in my brackets I have (15).
The sound out of sync issue came back for me so I'm just seeing if that is the issue![]()
That's your camera's max fps at that resolution. The only time I've had sounds sync issues is when using audio compression. That's why I stick with PCM. It doesn't really add too much to the file size and is always in sync.
