There's a file in the zip with the filter named GPSOSD.cpp which has example code to access the shared memory object. There are 8 OSDItems that can be set with an X, Y position and text. They can be changed as often as you like.

Curiosity just one thing I noticed tonight, if you put Dir+Course by itself in either of the top 'slots' nothing is displayed. However if you fill something under/above it with another item it does display

EDIT: Oh and I re-installed everything on a new laptop and no longer have the sound sync issues although it has crashed once so far but otherwise working better than my older laptop.

Oops, fixed it. Both far top and bottom were being ignored if the inner ones were disabled. Download again.

I'll help you convert it to VB. It should be pretty easy. Google found quite a few examples of shared memory...

All we need are the delcarations to convert the functions, then redefine the structs and it should work.

    Question

I'm trying to get the Xport and Minicam working.

I have a NMEA GPS connected via a prolific usb -> serial adapter which Xport recognizes and the data is good if I connect to one of the virtual ports with hyper terminal Ican see the valid data.

I've registered minicam and started it selected the camera and it will capture with no issues but there's no overlay of GPS data.

I noticed Xport doesn't show any connections when minicam is running is there a setting I missed some where?

I've tried one two separate computers on is an Imac with XP pro using the built in camera the other also XP pro using a fire wire video camera.

    Maybe I can help,

When the Minicam is displaying gps data okay, it won't show in xport, minicam somehow takes the info directly from xport. No COM port is used/needed from those xport generates.

Do you get 2d or 3d fix with xport? The gps setting is ticked inside minicam (I think there is one, but maybe it's the capture ultimate I have in mind)? You should get the gps data...Have you try the data with another GPS application? I'd have no idea what NMEA data looks like, but I wouldn't think it would be obviously valid, but that's me, of course!

One question, can you record with minicam? I get corrupted file names in the box, nothing gets recorded and I get an error message.

Sorry I've been so busy lately. The latest MiniCam dated 9/16/09 doesn't modify the filename string. Make sure you try that one. Give it a prefix like "F:\Video\File" and it will add the date, but not show it in the box. I think that should help.

@ve6ar check your fix like RipplingHurst said. The overlay only shows valid information. The latest XPort shows GPS status on the bottom. As soon as that shows 3D, the video will start showing the text.

Have you tried XPort 1.38? There may be some changes that help. I've lost GMPC at the moment but I remember it worked a little odd. It reminds me of the old DOS programs that poll a 1 byte UART so it doesn't drop bytes. I'll try to find it and make sure it's 5.00.20 I think. The one that worked with GPSGate.
